This is not my poem. In fact the author is unknown, however it is a very popular poem in the cancer community. This applies to the sickle cell community too because we have some of the most inspiring and resilient people that have ever graced this earth. If you are a sickle cell patient and are feeling down for whatever reason, I hope this touches you. You are not alone. You have a friend in all of the beautiful faces looking back at you and more all over the world.
WHAT SICKLE CELL CANNOT DO
Sickle cell is so limited…
It cannot cripple love.
It cannot shatter hope.
It cannot corrode faith.
It cannot eat away peace.
It cannot destroy confidence.
It cannot kill friendship.
It cannot shut out memories.
It cannot silence courage.
It cannot reduce eternal life.
It cannot quench the Spirit.
