Jasmine Brionna Parker, a fierce Sickle Cell Warrior, graduated from Highgate Heights Elementary and Tapestry Charter High School in Buffalo, NY and attended Trocaire College. Jasmine was a very sweet and often shy young woman who loved to laugh and make jokes. Jasmine loved anything “girly” and watching her favorite television shows or her favorite movies on the Lifetime Movie Network, something she got from her Grandma Lottie. Jasmine dreamed of becoming a nurse and making a difference by helping treat sick patients. Jasmine’s dream of being a nurse stemmed from her own experience growing up and being in and out of the hospital at a young age due to the fact she was born with Sickle Cell Disease type SS. Jasmine had plans on becoming a Sickle Cell activist to help increase awareness of the disease that she suffered from; a disease often overlooked. Jasmine was a brave sickle cell warrior; she wanted to be cured from the disease that hindered her from accomplishing her goals. Trying to find a way to be cured of the disease, Jasmine was the first person to undergo a half match bone marrow transplant at Roswell Park Cancer Institute on June 28th 2019. This procedure had many setbacks in which Jasmine fought through every time with a fiery and sassy attitude, making her a fan favorite of the nurses at Roswell. Forever a fighter, Jasmine was strong and kept fighting until the end. The Jasmine B. Parker Warrior On The Rise Scholarship is in honor of Jasmine to continue her work fighting sickle cell and defying the odds while inspiring others with love.
